1. Provide plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. Dogs that are bored or under-exercised are more likely to bark out of boredom.
2. Make sure your dog is getting enough attention. Dogs that feel neglected or lonely may bark out of frustration.
3. Use positive reinforcement training. Reward your dog for not barking when left alone.
4. Make sure your dog has a comfortable place to sleep. A tired dog is less likely to bark.
5. Use a “bark collar” or other deterrents. If your dog is barking out of fear or anxiety, a bark collar or other deterrents may help.
6. Talk to your veterinarian. If you’ve tried all of the above and your dog is still barking excessively, talk to your veterinarian about possible medical conditions or other causes.
